What is Christmas?...
To many people Christmas is a time to party, a time to 'eat drink and be merry', or a time to be with family and friends.
Christmas can of course be all of those things. Yet in enjoying all these things, have we forgotten the true meaning of Christmas?
Maybe we have forgotten that Christmas is a Birthday celebration, and that we are celebrating the birth of the most central figure in history itself - the Lord Jesus Christ.
How nice it is to be remembered on your Birthday, to receive a call from a distant friend, greetings cards and gifts from loved ones, the unexpected gift.. and how sad we would feel if we were forgotten..
Yet we forget Jesus... who's Name is the Prince of Peace, the Messiah..the One who came to bring us joy peace and forgiveness. Christmas cards no longer bear His name, nativity play no longer tell the amazing story of His birth..
The angels in the night sky so long ago sang of good tidings of great joy, and of peace on earth, yet our world is so full of sadness and hatred, so full of bitterness and greed.. could our leaving Christ out of Christmas have anything to do with this?
And is there any hope for this world? The answer is YES! There IS hope! The Jesus of Bethlehen came to bring hope. He died to save us and rose from the dead, and is alive today! He will save and heal those who call upon Him.
So as you prepare for Christmas 2007, remember Jesus. Invite Him into your Christmas. Invite Him into your world, and allow Him to bring peace, joy and hope to you and your loved ones, and watch the transformation He will bring!
I hope this Christmas will be a happy one for you, and that this will be your best Christmas ever!
